#LEGO #skaterdude travels to #California by Mini-Lili

Mini-Lili decided to take her favourite Lego person, "Skaterdude" with us on our recent trip to California. She was inspired by Andrew Whyte's Leg OGrapher, a Lego character who likes to take pictures. Mini-Lili put her own spin on the photos and adventure of Skaterdude.

Early morning finds Skaterdude heading out for a surf at Pismo Beach. He is waving to his friends who are out waiting for that perfect wave. Skaterdude is wearing his wetsuit- it is southern California in March. Pismo Beach is a beautiful long stretch of sand where you can run or walk for miles. Surfing is very popular as well as seal and otter spotting.

Skaterdude apparently couldn't handle that last wave! No Lego was hurt in the making of this photo.

We headed up tp Avila Beach where Skaterdude decided to go for a swim. I wouldn't recommend it since the water is still very cold at that time of year. I would recommend walking on any one of the three piers that jet out into the ocean.

We drove up the Pacific Coast Highway to Carmel-by-the-sea. The drive is one of the most scenic drives I have driven on. We stopped at many scenic viewpoints and the seal colony. We had a picnic where Skaterdude enjoyed his ice-cream.

We have heard of this Danish town called Solvang so we spent an afternoon there exploring the bakeries and the sites of this really cute town. Mini-Lili posed Skaterdude infront of The Little Mermaid statue.

One of my favourite cities in southern California has to be San Luis Obispo. It is one of California's oldest communities. The centre of town has a beautiful mission, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. Skaterdude found a crèche when he spent some time with baby Jesus.

Skaterdude started his mornings with a cup of coffee. We buy beans from Trader Joe's everytime we are in the USA. Why can we not find that kind of quality of beans here in Calgary?

Mini-Lili had a great time and I think Skaterdude enjoyed his first trip to California. Perhaps a trip to France and Italy is in his near future...

Discovering the #bidet in #France

One of the best things about travelling is the exploration and discovering of new things. New cultures, foods, music, art, landscapes and yes... even the discovery of what is behind that washroom (restroom, bathroom, latrine, powder room, water closet W.C.) door.

Bidet is a French word for pony. In addition, the bidet is referred to as the garden hose. The bidet is believed  to have been an invention of French furniture makers in the 17 century.

Mini-Lili was very thankful to the inventor of the bidet on this hot, summer day in Provence. With temperatures in the high 30sC, she walked into the bathroom and asked for water. She then climbed in and sat in her "private pool". She even took pool toys in with her on several afternoons.

Something as new as a bidet can provide hours of enjoyment for Mini-Lili. And can bring laughter and smiles to me.
